How do I just put new downloads from i tunes to external drive?

I have a lot of albums already on my external drive from itunes, but now how do I go about just getting 1 new album I have downloaded on my external drive if i hit the consolidate library it puts double albums on my external drive.. is there a way around this not having double,triple albums on my external drive
