I have i 1 gb of ram but my pc says 898?

i have a new emachine it has 1 gb of ram stock but whene i go into my computer and properties it say ram size 898 this doest bother me but i need max ram for gaming 898 is so little i run games that need 1 gb of ram with out problems help im woried i have a friend who has a costume pc and his says 2 gb of ram helphelphelphelphelphelphelphelp i know the pc cant take the megabytes and make it into gb
