Would is be inappropriate for me to have a bridal shower?

Originally my fiance and I had plans of getting married and having a ceremony and reception. However, things changed because he is in the military and we were not certain of what day he was coming in so we called off the reception and ceremony but are still planning on getting married ASAP. The only difference is there will be no ceremony and there will be no reception. We will just go to the courthouse and sign the papers. My best friend still wants to throw me a bridal shower even though there will be no wedding. Is it inappropriate to have a bridal shower even if there is no actual wedding? And what about a bachlorette party?
