I found a small tortoise on the side of the road in a residential area of Northern California. It looks to be a Hermann's Tortoise. I have it in a box with gr/turf, some cantalope and honeydew melon and shredded carrots. Until I can find a home for it what else do I do with it? Why do I always vomit when I work out at the gym?

11 year old Hockey player?

I have an 11 year old that is playing hockey for the first time. He is a great skater and learning very well on stick and puck handling. One thing is slow on is being aggressive on the ice. I think he is nervous from being around kids that have been playing for a while now. I think he has it in him to be more aggressive, and I don’t want to push him to the point where he is unsure about himself on the ice. Any suggestions I may suggest to him? Or will this just take time? Just learning the game is hard enough, and he truly loves playing and can’t get enough of it. I would love to hear from other players, coaches, parents that might have dealt with this with other 11 year olds just starting.

Have i eaten too much today?

I am trying to lose weight, and i have eaten 1 apple, 1/8 of a spinach homemade quiche (i don't know how many calories!), a ton of fruit, and i mean a ton. i am a fruit addict. i maybe ate like at least 20 large strawberries, 1 cup of blueberries, 15 slices of melon, 1 cup of blackberries and a small portion of some sort of salad (probably 300 calories at most). I agree that yours is a long question. I also agree that environmentalist are misguided. It is one thing to save the whale from harpooning, or baby seals from getting smacked with baseball bats, it is quite another to think that by non forestation and good forestry planing we can not harvest and control our forest and still have a habitat for wild species. The spotted owl, save their nest, what happens when a forest fire burns it down. The scrub you speak of, now those poor birds no longer have a nesting habitat, my guess is that come the nesting season, they will find one suitable. This is typical radical behavior, not give a solution that is in the best interest of all concern. I say your on the right track. The solution is protect the habitat from fires. The species will thrive, or maybe not, isn't that what Darwin's whole theory is about, survival of the fittest? If they don't adapt, then surely they will be extinct in the future, not because of man, but because they failed to evolve.

Siamese Cat has a leg problem?

Hi, My sister's siamese cat seems to have this leg problem. When the cat was first given to her it was full of energy able to walk, run and jump around... but after a few months something went wrong with her leg. Pickle brine recipe?

place 1 garlic clove, 1 hot pepper and 1 medium to large sprig of dill (or 1/2 tsp dried dill seed) in the bottom of your jars (I like wide mouthed ons because they're easier to pack) pack with either sliced or speared cubers, just up to the threading for the band. Boil 1 quart of water, 1 cup of white vineger and 1/2 cup canning salt (I cut it to 1/3cup) until salt is dissolved. pour brine over cubers just til it covers them. put on your lids (no need to boil) and bands. Boil in a canner for exactly 10 minutes. remove and let cool. YUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!! I've made 4 dozen pints of these so far this year and they're wonderful!!!

Red dots all over my legs after waxing?

I've waxed my legs myself before but this is the first time I've ever had red dots all over my legs. They are tiny and there must be millions of them. It took maybe a day or two for them to show up, and as the days went by they've been getting darker. It's been a week now and the red little dots are still all over and it looks really discusting. What would make my WMP (all versions 9, 10, and 11) become non-responsive?

Why do people use the fact that they think my life is perfect to take their anger out on me?

You sound like you are a nice person. . .and a sensitive one. I think that's the way to be. I try to be helpful to others. . .I think that's the way I want to be. I have found that some people take nice for stupid. We both know that isn't so. Helping someone and listening to their problems is a nice thing to do but when they disrespect you, you don't do them any favors by sticking around for that. You have to let people know that they are stepping over "the" line. When people disrespect you, you have to let them know their actions are inappropriate and don't be afraid to open you mouth and say so. And the only other thing I can think of is that when people look at you and you seem so nice and happy so they ume life is easy for you. Everyone has problems and has to learn to deal with them. But it's very easy to ume a happy looking person has it all going for them. It's the old the gr is always greener across the fence. And that guy must be an idiot. The first time he said something bad, you should have stood up for yourself. He sounds like a guy with a lot of problems and one of them is abusing others. You let him, so he thought you were his type of girl. You can very nicely put an end to all of it. Stand up for yourself. I have a 99 Chevy prism 4 cyl. I would just like to have an idea whats wrong with my car before i take it into a garage and so i don't get ripped off. When i start the car and get it going from a stop the engine sputters or skips till i get up to about 40mph then it's a steady. Around 10 to 20 MPH the engine does a small popping sound it sounds like I hit a paper cup with my axle. The engine light blinks when i'm going up a hill like it's not getting enough power to go. Hello, I went today to the hospital and i was told that i have scars on my upper eyelids, these scars are made of calcium or potium (i cnt really remeber) and these scars cause pain when blinking especially in the morning when i wake up. Also i was told that it will settle down after a while (few weeks or months) but it may come up again in the future. I was given a 'simple eye ointment' only. My parents are ruining my summer?

My parents are obsessed with the global information network run by the infamous Kevin trudeau. I HATE it and I have to eat organic crap because of it. I was using ovulation predictor kits for the past few months but I stopped because I feel like I'm getting obsessed with the whole ttc thing, anyways my last period started Feb 6th until Feb 10th. On the evening of the 14th which is cycle day 9, I started having light twinging/pinching pain on my lower right side as I do every month with my cycle during ovulation. I continued to have this feeling the next day and had some pinkish brown tinged cm that was kind of stretchy on cycle day 10. I then continued to have the pain all day yesterday, cycle day 11. So all in all I started with what I feel was ovulation pain on day 9 and it lasted through day 11, today is day 12 and it feels kind of "sore" down in that same area if that makes sense. My cycles typically are anywhere from 26-32 days and my doc says that's fine. We had on cycle day 8 and 10 and we are trying for baby #2. Do you think it sounds like I was ovulating around cycle day 10 or 11? Please answer, I am trying to figure this whole thing out. Thank you in advance.

i have wanted an akita my whole live. when i moved out and did research on the breed it did deter me a little. i became a dog groomer and have experienced nearly every breed out there. as much as i still love the look of an akita i would choose a shepherd. to me they are much more trainable and will accept another person more willingly than an akita, but still great protectors. i would think the akita is larger and stronger, but the shepherd would be faster, and a better running partner. i also think the shepherd would be a better protector since it is more trainable. akitas seem to be a one person dog and it doesn't matter if a new person is a friend or just good in general they seem to not like them, which i what deterred me from the breed. i have never trained an akita but have worked with chows and jindos, both chinese breeds. it was like pulling teeth, they are independent dogs and and almost behave like cats. they will listen when they want but that is it. i have siberian huskies now and they are considered hard to train due to their Independence and they dont even compare the the chinese breeds. i have been told by dog show people that the akita is similar in mentality to the jindo, chows and sharpies. i also have a friend that has a very well bred akita and she has all the traits listed above that make them difficult. i would also think that a shepherd would stay around the house more which would be a good thing if you have than much space. if you think a cross would suite what you want get that instead i have come across more akita shepherd mixes that pure akitas so i would think they wouldn't be to hard to find.

My dog keeps coughing likes he's choking?

My toy poodle is 12 yrs of age, and thats probably why he is coughing. He is coughing very harshly then gagging like he is going to throw up something but he doesnt. It might be of old age but I need to know if we should take him to the vet. Or if hes in pain. Hes a happy dog, playful like hes young. He also breathes heavy enough for us to hear in his sleep.

Can someone define for me the unusual word - vles.?

I have just come across it in a poem by Elizabeth Bishop - line 14 of the poem "Anaphora" is "sinks through the drift of vles." Dictionary and encyclopedia searches have drawn a blank. I thought it may have been a misprint for "cles" (C and P are next door on the keyboard) but online versions of the verse all have "vles". Am I being really stupid or ignorant here? Can anyone help? Why won't my guidance counselor just let me graduate a semester early?

In my school we do block scheduling. That means that we have four cles a day for 76 minutes until January than we start another eight cles in June. Each cl is worth 5 credits and a senior needs 140 credits to graduate. So, I already have 120 credits from my first three years in high school. I'm taking a full course load this semester, making the grand total 140 credits in January. The only cles I needed to take this year to graduate were gym and senior english, and I am currently taking both. So I should be able to graduate. I have all of my requirments done and I wanted to take off for the last semester so I can try some college cles and try working a few more hours a week at my nightly job. But my guidance counselor says that it's a new rule that seniors have to take a full course load all year because of our new superintendent. I'm angry because of this. They always told me that if I meet the graduation requirements, which I do, than I could just finish high school. I'm not dropping out, I'm really done. I plan to start college in the fall and the school I already choose said that they are fine with me getting some "real life experience" for six months. So how do I convince the school board to let me take the next semester off, one that I don't need at all.

The things you listed are all you would want taped anyway. I doubt your MIL would want to watch hours of people eating or dancing anyway. So I don't think it's rude to have them do it, you won't really be taking away from them enjoying anything because the things they will be filming they would not be included in anyway. In Textiles, how do you properly attach a zip to the back of a costume/dress?

It's a while since I did it but I used to use a long stitch on the sewing m/c to close the seam where the zip would go. Then I would open out the sides of the seam, tack the closed zip to the inside, sew it in(with a normal stitch) and then slit open the seam on the outside. Voila - the neatest zip you ever saw!

Milk &lactose intolorant children?

My son is 2.5 years old, and was diagnosed with milk and lactose intolorance last year. However after 10 months on the new diet he is still only wearing clothes for a 6 to 12 mth and 12 to 18 mth? I'm not convinced i have the right diagnosis and maybe there maybe some thing the doctors have overlooked. Although he is more active than 10 mths ago he still very much has the look of a baby and not as a 2 to 3 year old? He also suffers with ashma and ezma. Not sure where to go? is this normal?
